Whew, what an election that was! WHAT a historic freakin’ election. YES, we worked hard. People actually went out and voted. And we elected some pretty kick ass people to lead our country! There’s so much to celebrate . . . and you have yourselves to thank! . . .
So, here it goes, my first “real” post since my two year hiatus!
Well, last month my Grandma, who we lovingly call Grammy, celebrated her 85th birthday! We had a family celebration with my parents, sister, uncles, aunts, and cousins — very lovely!
As soon as we knew we were planning a party, I knew that I wanted to bake her a cake. So, inspired by Picky Cook and Smitten Kitchen, I decided I would tackle a chocolate layer cake with ganache frosting.
Here I am, back in action after 2 years, 5 months, and three days! With the ending of Rosh Hashanah and the beginning of the Jewish New Year (5773), I have been inspired by the themes of regeneration and renewal. And so, I have decided to revive my blog!

One of my many passions is cooking. I’m a bit of a health nut, so I’m always looking for tasty figure-friendly foods. Though I must admit, I do have a bit of a sweet tooth.
Anyways, I was in the grocery store the other day and I came across Mann’s Broccoli Cole Slaw. On the back of the package there was a Hungry Girl recipe for Scoopable Chinese Chicken Salad (Serves 4). I thought I’d try it, so I made it for lunch that day. I altered the recipe a bit since I couldn’t find some of the ingredients. So, in the end it wasn’t so Chinese after all, but it was still quite delicious! Here it is if you’re interested:
