This morning the boyfriend and I decided to go to brunch at The Original Pancake House in Bethesda. It’s walking distance from my apartment, so since it was a gorgeous day, the walk was quite lovely.
We got there around noon, and my-oh-my was it busy! But, that’s generally a good sign — a popular place usually means the food is tasty! . . . They asked for our name and said it would be a 10min. wait, but it was probably more like 20min. As I said – they were really quite busy. There was a group of 11 high school girls ahead of us waiting to be seated.
When they called us they seated us at a lovely table in the middle of the restaurant — a four-top surprisingly, not a two-top considering how busy they were. While I like a booth better, really anything was good as we were both really quite hungry at this point!
When our server came around he asked us right away what we wanted to drink, which was great! That way we could sip away while we figured out what we wanted to eat. Ben ordered coffee and I got my usual English Breakfast tea — Bigelow’s English Teatime, nothing special, but just what I like.
You ask what we ordered?! Well . . . we I got hash browns and the Chocolate Chip Pancakes, described on their menu like so: “Rich semi-sweet chocolate chips in our buttermilk batter, melty good, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with real whipped cream.” Ben also got the hash browns plus eggs and the Strawberry Pancakes, described as “Our buttermilk pancakes, covered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.”
This mornings outing was definitely great in my book! Despite the wait (it took a bit to be seated and for our food to arrive), the food was so very delicious and well worth the wait, and the people there were very friendly. I would highly recommend this place!
